26-27 January 2011 Workshop on Water Desalination, Cairo   The Holding Company for Water and Wastewater (HCWW) organized a workshop  on water desalination in cooperation with the Academy of Scientific Research on  Technology (ASRT). The workshop participants included foreign and local experts  as well as representatives of several companies concerned in the water  desalination field. The workshop aimed at reviewing and discussing the recent  technologies and worldwide applications in the water desalination field and the  challenges that it faces. 
13 December 2010 Official Opening of the Kenouz Training Centre, Qena Company for Water & Wastewater With the opening of the Kenouz Training Center the Qena Company for Water &  Wastewater (QCWW) has now a first class training facility equipped with  administration offices, a computer training room, a library containing training and  reference learning materials, meeting rooms, 4 classrooms, toilets, kitchens and a  cafeteria. The training centre is operated by QCWW staff that manages the day to  day training planning, coordination and delivery of training according to the needs  of the Water Company and external users. 
05 December 2010  Announcement of the policy document for the water supply and wastewater sector, Cairo In this workshop the proposed water sector policy and envisaged implementation  strategies were announced and discussed by Dr. Amr Ezzat Salama, the Head of  the Housing Committee in Shubra Council, professor in the American University  and former Head of the Water Law and Policy Committee responsible for the draft  legislation and policy document that is released in this workshop; Engineer  Mohammad Al-Alfy, Assistant Minister MoHUUD; representatives of the Holding  Company and GIZ as well as Mr. Hans Hammann, the First Counselor of the  German Embassy and the Head of the Economic Cooperation. Read More...  [279KB] 
13-17 September 2010 IFAT, Munich Representatives of the Holding Company for Water and Wastewater and its  affiliated companies visited the IFAT ENTSORGA 2010, the World’s Leading  Trade Fair for Water, Sewage, Waste and Raw Materials Management. Some  2,500 exhibitors from 46 countries presented their products and services for an  intense exchange of knowledge and information and for valuable networking.     
25-27 July 2010   1st International Conference & Exhibition “Sustainable Water Supply and  Sanitation”, Cairo  The 1st International Conference and Exhibition on Sustainable Water Supply and  Sanitation 2010 was organized by the Holding Company for Water & Wastewater  under the umbrella of the Ministry of Housing, Utilities and Urban Development.  The conference aimed to gather all concerned people in the field of Water and  Wastewater, by presenting latest researches and up-to-date technologies. It  brought together representatives from universities, industrial and governmental  organizations with policy makers, stakeholders and clients and enables all  participants to learn from international expertise. Read More... 18-20 November 2008 Capacity Development for Water and Sanitation Utilities in the Arab Region, Alexandria This conference, held in Alexandria by the established Arab Countries Water  Utilities Association (ACWUA) brought together experts from all stakeholders  involved in Capacity Development specially the operators and the practitioners  from the Arab Region. The conference documented the available Know How and  Best Practice, and recommended new approaches for more efficient management  in the field of water and sanitation. Read More... [1,01MB] 
05-09 May 2008 IFAT, Munich The Programme sent representatives of the Holding Company for Water and  Wastewater and its affiliated companies to the 14th European Water, Wastewater  and Solid Waste Symposium in Munich, a platform which was established by the  Federal Ministry for Environment, Nature Concervation and Nuclear Safety and  other relevant ministries, together with a number of private and public companies  from the water sector, research institutions and several professional associations  for strengthening the exchange of knowhow and communication between relevant  government and private actors, including water research institutions, and for  promoting the expertise and competences of German private and public  institutions for solving water management problems worldwide. 
10-11 September 2007   Conference on Sustainable Wastewater Management, Cairo  In this two-day scientific conference, organized by the WWMP and HCWW under  the patronage of his Excellency Minister of Housing Utilities & New Communities,  technical, organizational and institutional topics were presented and discussed  with public and private representatives of the water and wastewater sector. 
08 and 11 November 2010 BMZ visit to WWMP Sites  Mrs. Sabine Schmitt, the Egypt Desk Officer from the German Ministry of  Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) accompanied by Hans  Hammann, Counselor for Economic Cooperation and Development from the  German Embassy, Cairo together with the country directors and representatives  from GIZ and KfW visited Qena Company for Water and Waste Water (QCWW) on  Monday 8 November 2010. To view the cooperation between the EU, QCWW and  GIZ in providing long term support to the staff, the delegation visited the recently  refurbished and well-equipped Kenouz Training Centre, located in Qena City, as  well as the Central Laboratory at Salheya Water Treatment Plant which has been  making preparations for gaining the ISO 17025 Accreditation.   On Thursday 11 November 2010, the delegation visited the BMZ funded project  "The Decentralizes Wastewater Management" (DWMM) pilot village Al Moufty Al  Kobra, Sidi Salem District, Kafr El Sheikh Governorate. The BMZ delegation was  received on site by the Kafr El Sheikh Water and Sewerage Company (KWSC)  chairman, senior staff and the Head and members of village Community  Development Association (CDA). The visit included the DWWM pump station and  treatment plant with a presentation by project team and following discussions on  technical, management and social aspects of the GIZ community based approach. 
02 - 05 May 2011 WASSER BERLIN  Dr. Salah Bayoumi projects sector head of the Holding Company for Water &  Wastewater (HCWW), visited the Water Berlin Conference 2011 as representative  to exchange up-to-date knowledge related to water issues around the world. He  presented the TSM Egypt ceritification system implemented by HCWW in  cooperation with the WWMP which supports water & wastewater plants in  selected governorates to improve their operation and maintenance (O&M)  measures. 
26 June - 03 July 2011 Technical Labortory Training  During the last week of June 2011, the WWMP organized a Technical Study Tour  for 10 Chemist of the Central Laboratory (CL) for water analysis of the Qena  Water and Wastewater Company (QWWC) to visit Analytical laboratories in and  around Berlin.  The CL of the QWWC recently received the ISO 17025  Accreditation for more than 45 parameters.  ISO 17025 is currently the most  respected international recognition which confirms the quality of the analytical  results, its scientific validity and tractability, the quality of personnel.  The visit to  the German laboratories presented an excellent opportunity to the QWWC  Chemists to see the "beyond accreditation" phase; how laboratories effectively  plan their sampling, testing and reporting of huge numbers of samples from  different customers.  Some of the visited laboratories analyze more than 16.000  samples per year.  The group also visited the treatment plant of Tegel; one of the  major water treatment plants of Beliner Wasser Company which is producing more  than 250.000 m3/day using the Riverbank Filtration technique.    
21 November 2011 5 Years Egyptian - German WWMP   The Marriott Hotel in Cairo was the venue for the Celebration of five years Water  Supply and Wastewater Management Programme in Egypt. Attendants were,  between many, the Governor of Cairo, Dr. Abd El Quey Khalifa, the representative  of the German Embassy in Cairo, Mr. Hammann, and the GIZ country director Dr.  Steuer.  Presentations about the achievements of the past years were held and the  programme manager, Dr. Hans-Werner Theisen was honoured and bid farewell.
